This violin has gorgeous Maple ribs , neck and back. It is decorated with a Hardanger's rosemaling.
Sold

4/4 Tiger head scroll Stradavari copy
Carefully hand carved and graduated to tune the resonant frequencies of the front and back plates to work together for the freest sound. Spruce belly, Rosewood ribs and back.

4/4 Guarnieri King Joseph copy
Carefully hand carved from the Rock Maple neck to the broad flaming of the curly Redwood ribs and back. The belly is Western Red Cedar and Spruce. Graduated to a fine balance of resonant frequencies. It's a real joy to play for double stops.

4/4 Guarnieri copy with Oak ribs and back
Luthiers use flamed Maple all of the time, but has anyone made a flamed Oak violin. Here it is with a Western Red Cedar belly and inlaid fittings.
$650

4/4 The Princess violin
Hand carved of Western Red Cedar and flamed hard Maple. The Princess is a cut-away revision of Guarnieri's King Joseph. It was designed to enable smaller hands to reach higher up the fingerboard. The rich depth of the G & D strings is an unexpected welcome.
$1,500

4/4 Guarnieri King Joseph copy
Hand carved of Western Red Cedar and African Mahogany. Graduated and tuned to Carlene Hutchin's balance. You will never see another violin to match this one. And, it'll take some searching to find one that can match it's power and expression. Western Red Cedar doesn't need to be played-in like Spruce does. It's got its full voice.
$3,000

4/4 Jacob Stainer copy of his 1679 violin
During the great Stradavari's life many Stainers sold for 10 times what Strad's sold for. Hand carved of Western Red Cedar from British Columbia and ribs and back carved of one-piece European Maple. This is a careful reproduction of Stainer's size and arches. Where many of the Guarneri violins are bright and powerful, this one is warmer and quite balanced.
$1,500

4/4 Guarneri Ole Bull copy
Hand carved Spruce and European flamed Maple. This violin is graduated to match the front and back plates. It has a red linseed oil varnish. Smooth sound over all.
On loan

4/4 Stradavari copy of the G mold
Hand carved of Spruce and European lightly flamed Maple, this is a copy of Stradavari's largest violin. Purposely following Strad's lengths, widths, heigths and arches this violin is hardly a quarter of an inch longer than typical. Yet, it happens to be one of the quickest in response, that I've made.

Carlene Hutchins Soprano Violin
Carlene designed the Soprano to play an octave higher than a Viola. This one is hand carved out of Western Red Cedar and African Mahogany. The plates are balanced and carefully tuned to match. It plays as a powerful Soprano, or if you string it up with typical violin strings it fits between a 3/4 and a 1/2 for beginners.
$ 400

7/8 Stradavari G mold copy
How good of a violin can you make out of the woods at your local Lowes or Homedepot? This is hand carved from Lowes' Western Red Cedar and flamed Poplar. It's also 1/2 an inch shorter to facilitate slightly smaller hands. The sound is clear and even from top to bottom.
$250

7/8 Stradavari copy
Hand carved of beautifully flamed Hard Maple for ribs and back with Western Red Cedar for the belly. Built off of Stradavari's S - mold and using Harry Wake's arches. 7/8'd are built for slightly smaller stature and hands. This one has quite the bright voice. Paganini called his Guarnieri the Canon, I'd call this little one a trumpet.
$650

Carlene Hutchins' Mezzo Violin
This is a hand carved violin with the neck and string length of a 4/4, 14 inch violin, but it has a 15 inch body to fill out the G & D strings. Carlene designed the body thinner so that it would match the internal air volume of a typical Stradavari or Guarnieri violin. This has a Western Red Cedar belly with Rosewood ribs, an African Mahogany back, and an inlaid finger board. It has been carefully tuned to Carlene's specifications and comes with the possibility of being strung as a 5 string viola/violin, or as a 4 string (either one).
$2,000

Fusion 13 Violin
Hand carved of beautifully flamed Black Cherry for ribs and back with Western Red Cedar for the belly. Flamed Maple for the finger board, chin rest and tail piece. It has the length, depth and arches of a fullsize 14 inch violin, but it has been shifted to have the playing length and reach of a 13 inch violin. Part of the continuing study to get the most sound from an instrument into the hands of smaller players.
